CA, LOS ANGELES - Flood, men, damage, RPPC postcard - C17757
California postcard
- not posted
- has DOPS on stamp box which normally dates 1925 to 1942
- titled: Flood March 3rd, 1938 showing the cut as a result of the flooding.
- When I was researching to list this card, I found that between Feb 27 and March 3rd, 1938 - Los Angeles was inundated with 2 storm systems. Los Angeles received up to 10" of rain over 5 days. There were 115 lives lost / 1,000s were evacuated / 6,000 plus homes were damaged or destroyed / 108,000 acres (1/3 of Los Angeles) was flooded
- This real photo postcard shows some men out checking out the destruction, as well as a bunch of others on the edge of the water
- Please note that the majority of the cards are over 50 years old and as such, are sold AS IS. Tears will be noted but it would be too timely to note each fault on every card. If condition is important to you - contact us with our number in the title & what it is that you would like to know or what it is that you would like pictured more closely.
- Because of the age of the cards - they are noted as being USED - no matter if they are written on or not.
