CT, BRIDGEPORT - Star Shirt Factory building, fire hydrant (original SOLD) E17043
Connecticut postcard - CT
- mailed - Dec 18 / Dec 19th by the cancelations but the year is not 100 percent clear. As the building seems totally in tact, I am thinking that maybe it was 1905, which would date the picture being taken only a couple of months before it burned!! Either way - it is over 110 years old!!
- Real Photo Postcard that shows a large building, smaller one and fire hydrant near sidewalk
- titled: Star Shirt Factory (with the y backwards)
- just noticed that there is a sign in front of the building to the left that is partially blocked by a tree but you can ALMOST read it. As a GUESS..... Wm Burnes Co / Builders / Vernon, CT ~ maybe when it is on the internet and larger, it may be more legible.
- I did try to look it up, but all I was able to find was that there was a disaster (a fire) Feb 28, 1906 and that the building was owned by Hutchinson Peirce and Co.
- Please note that the majority of the cards are over 50 years old and as such, are sold AS IS. Tears will be noted but it would be too timely to note each fault on every card. If condition is important to you - contact us with our number in the title & what it is that you would like to know or what it is that you would like pictured more closely.
- Because of the age of the cards - they are noted as being USED - no matter if they are written on or not.
