NY, GLOVERSVILLE - Jewish Synagogue - @1908 postcard - R01071
New York postcard - Gloversville, NY
- Mailed 1906 from Gloversville
- shows a close up of the Gloversville Synagogue
- has a huge STAR OF DAVID, I believe over the doorway made out of stained glass - beneath it there are 2 black tablets with the Roman Numerals of I, II, III, IV, V on the right one and VI, VII, VII, IX, X on the left one - and just above the door is some Jewish or Hebrew writing which I have no clue as to what it says
- on the lower right area of the building is a white sign with a star shape along with numbers in each of the corners which may be 18-91 / 19-05
- Stamped on the upper right face is ELMER E PEASLEY - ARCHITECT - GLOVERSVILLE, NY
- Apparently this is the original synagogue that was on East Fulton St and was first called the Hebrew Mutual Assistance Association Synagogue. Then about 1918 was named Knesseth Israel Synagogue.
