Old, Vintage Patriotic Postcard Titled: Gettysburg, PA Statues of Generals Hancock, Mead and Reynolds. back - Winfield Scott Hancock was born in PA in 1824; he was second in command at the battle of Gettysburg, in which he was wounded; he died in 1886. George Gordon Meade was born in Spain in 1815; he succeeded Hooker as commander of the Army of the Potomac in June 1863, and defeated Gen Lee at Gettysburg; he died in 1872. John Fulton Reynolds was born in PA in 1820; he commanded the vanguard at Gettysburg and while reconnoitering, was killed on July 1st 1863. -
