• The pioneer high pressure turbine ship, built in 1926 by William Denny and Bros Ltd for Turbine Steamers Ltd, was acquired in 1935 by David MacBrayne Ltd., a railroad owned company.  Converted to oil in 1951, the RMS King George V is the oldest major passenger vessel in British waters.  Photographed at Oban, Perth, Scotland on Monday September 14, 1970 by Carl V Ehrke
