• Anti-submarine Aircraft Carrier built by the Newport News Shipbuilding Co as an Attack Aircraft Carrier.  Originally commissioned on Nov 29, 1943 and participated in the Pacific Theatre during WWII.  Assumed ASW duties on Jun 27, 1958
