Vintage postcard

mailed but year not totally clear, however other cards for Franklin Farrel 3rd are dated 1913 to 1916.  From that I believe that this card was mailed 1913.  Unfortunate that the cancellation wasn't clearer as it is a RPO strike with NY & Chi and there is even a PERFIN STAMP AFFIXED, with NYC punched out of it, so must have been purchased while sender was actually on the train!!

Front:  TWENTIETH CENTURY LIMITED - highest standard. Fastest long distance train in the world. Makes the run over night between Chicago and New York, both directions. Service equal to best hotels in clubs. Station telephone connection, stock report, barber, valet, made and stenographer. New York Central Lines - water level route

Engine itself shows the conductor with his arm out the window and the numbers 4807 on it. The tender car has new York central lines, with possibly iS and MS above that. The next car has buffet car

Please note that the majority of the cards are over 50 years old and as such, are sold AS IS. Tears will be noted but it would be too timely to note each fault on every card. If condition is important to you - contact us with our number in the title & what it is that you would like to know or what it is that you would like pictured more closely.

  • Because of the age of the cards - they are noted as being USED - no matter if they are written on or not.
