VT, RUTLAND - Feb 18, 1906 Fire, mailed Mar 12 - Aftermath RPPC - B11135
Vermont Real Photo postcard
- mailed March 12, 1906 which was 22 days after the fire itself and sent to Mrs. Anna Tooley in Raceville, NY. There is a postmark from Rutland that has STATION A, with 2 bars above & 2 bars below - as well as 8 vertical bars as the actual killer strike. If you collect postal history, let me know if this cancellation is a Doremus strike too and I will note that. Unfortunately the Raceville stamp isn't clear - because that is a DPO with a rarity #3.
- Titled: Rutland, VT Business Section Burned Feb 18 '06 loss $700,000. Shows smoke still coming up out of the rubble from the disaster.
- Real Photo postcard or RPPC
- This is an original Brehmer Photo. Louis Frederick Brehmer - who was a professional photographer in Rutland. Born 1868 and died 1949. In 1899 he was producing illustrated books on local architecture and scenery with his brother Philip. Later he produced photographic postcards. Brehmers photographs are in the library of Congress and George Eastman House.
- This postcard is remarkably crisp, especially when you consider it's around 120 years old
- Please note that the majority of the cards are over 50 years old and as such, are sold AS IS. Tears will be noted but it would be too timely to note each fault on every card. If condition is important to you - contact us with our number in the title & what it is that you would like to know or what it is that you would like pictured more closely.
- Again, because of the age of the cards - they are noted as being USED - no matter if they are written on or not.
